FILMCONVERT CINEMATOGRAPHY
As an aspiring cinematographer, I tend to watch different filmmakers and cinematographers as a source of inspiration and learning. I have heard from a lot of other well known and talented filmmakers that in order to sharpen your skills in this art you constantly need to learn and be inspired not only through your work but the work of others as well. This leads me to the recent Cinematography Competition held by FilmConvert - a company responsible for creating film stock emulating software and plug-ins for commonly used cameras and color profiles ranging from DSLRs to Cinema Cameras.
The competition's aim was to highlight cinematographic skills of different filmmakers incorporated with the use of any of the film stock found in FilmConvert. It was also aimed to highlight the majestic look and feel of analog cinematography (shooting on film/The Film Look) - though competitors would shoot in digital formats, the film stock used was key in highlighting that feel and look.
Recently FilmConvert released the list of winners and finalists of the competition and it did a great job to highlight what camera and film stock was used for the winning projects as well as commenting on the cinematography and grading of the films. This does a lot to showcase the great work and effort the FilmConvert team has put into creating and delivering the amazing film stocks as well as showcase the works of different talented filmmakers all around who inspire and motivate us through their works.
